Confession: I'm lazier (much) than my husband

 Age 49: Day 6

Right now, I am lying in bed, choosing not to deal with 90 degree heat and 100 percent humidity while my husband is...weeding the garden (in 90 degree heat and 100 percent humidity). After that, he will
  1. Rake our little lake beach
  2. Clean up the work area where he is "causing a  gazebo to be built," as he puts it
  3. Take the wheels off the car and put the car up on blocks (he will do this  himself--he actually knows how)
  4. And I'm not sure what else, but I'm sure there are at least 7 other things on his list.
He also cooked breakfast for us (poached eggs on toast), drove us to the tractor supply store (my favorite store! I bought a cute sun hat for $3 and a great pair of sunglasses for $12. They look like Oakleys, I swear!) Then we came home, swam across our little lake and here I am, lying here.

Okay--I did a few tiny things: Helped him bring outdoor furniture to the lake. The dishes. Put the laundry in. Um...that's about it folks.

Lots of women complain that they can't get their husbands to do much around the house. Somehow, I have turned into the husband. My cat is stretched out next to me, I am doing my daily blog, and then I am going to take a...nap. I feel guilty.

  1. How refreshing to hear someone else admit this! My husband is the same way...he attributes it to his Lutheran work ethic. The poor guy can't sit still. I relish sitting still, and thankfully he doesn't resent it.
